AMATEUR CONCERT PHOTOGRAPHY HOUR: CLUTCH @ Rebel, October 23, 2018

This was the first concert I’ve been to post-legalization, so it was only fitting that Clutch opened their set with “The Mob Goes Wild” and its famous line “Everybody move to Canada and smoke lots of pot.” Their set was heavy on their most recent record, as expected, but they also gifted us a few vintage chestnuts like “Spacegrass,” “Escape from the Prison Planet” and “A Shogun Named Marcus.”

Twas also the first time I’ve been to Rebel since it was The Sound Academy, and I gotta say, the sound has actually improved. The well-lit, sizable stage gave Neil Fallon plenty of room to operate, as he exuded his usual swagger and charm. A couple dudes in the crowd kept yelling “Start a religion, Neil!” But who needs religion when you’ve got rock ‘n roll?
