PSYCHO LAS VEGAS Day Two Recap

Electric Wizard was the biggest draw of Day Two–and perhaps the entire festival, with the possible exception of Sleep. But I was looking forward to seeing SoCal stoner legends Acid King just as much, if not more…

Do You Have Anything to Declare? By Kevin Stewart-Panko and Justin Smith

It’s a brilliant idea for a book and for the most part, the idea is brilliantly executed. Stewart-Panko and Smith have done an admirable job of gathering and organizing first-hand accounts from dozens of metal/hardcore scene luminaries, including members of Red Fang, Fuck the Facts, KEN Mode, Jucifer, Brutal Truth, Dying Fetus, and Dillinger Escape Plan. Needless to say, their stories are alternately illuminating, hilarious, and cringe-worthy.

The world’s loudest bar band hits Toronto tonite…

They might not be in the Guinness Book of Records alongside Manowar and Motorhead, but Georgian “black doomed sludge thrash” nomads Jucifer have been blowing the roofs offa tiny clubs for years. Tonite, they make their annual trip to Toronto, where, for the second year in a row, they’ll be playing the Bovine Sex Club.

YOB, Dark Castle and OTIS–Oh my!

I’m not one to mince words, nor to give perfect-10s, but I gotta say, last nite’s gig at the Courthouse was the best show I’ve seen in Toronto this year. The rock-solid triple-bill held its own with a coupla festival gigs I’ve seen elsewhere–and in terms of quality over quantity, it definitely takes the cake.
