Changes at Hellbound.ca: Welcome our new Editor!
I’m not sure exactly what this list means – is this list any better than any of the individual lists? Probably not. Every list that comes out has their own personality, has albums that may be less obvious. But perhaps what this list does show is what the collective metal media thought was the “can’t miss” albums this year.

I originally wrote the following review for Exclaim! and it appeared in their February 2009 issue. I thought it would be a good accompanying piece to Adrien’s AC/DC book review that we posted today…
While Hellbound.ca is definitely my main focus these days, every now and then I still write for other places when asked. One band that I have covered for Exclaim! on a number of occasions that will appeal to some metal fans despite their non-metalness is the US based heavy blues rock quartet Gov’t Mule. The last time I wrote about them was about seven years ago, but when I got a last minute offer to cover their recent Toronto performance last week for Exclaim!, I rang up Albert Mansour to see if he was interested in checking it out.
While Hellbound.ca is definitely my main focus these days, every now and then I still write for other places when asked. Way back before I launched Hellbound.ca back on June 1st, a Toronto date for Porcupine Tree and King’s X was announced in Toronto for September 30th and I pitched Exclaim! on doing a review of it. True to my word, I went to the show and did the review for Exclaim!, who have posted it up online this morning.
While Hellbound.ca is definitely my main focus these days, every now and then I still write for other places when asked. Exclaim! put out a call last Friday looking for someone to review that night’s Obituary show in Toronto, which I was going to cover for Hellbound.ca with a full review, so I wrote up a review for Exclaim! instead.
