Last weekend, the place to be was south of the border, as Acid King brought their Busse Woods 20th anniversary tour to Buffalo’s Mohawk Place
Just got back from Baltimore, and boy, are my eardrums tired! Over three days of an expertly curated (mostly) heavy music lineup, I took over 550 pictures of almost 20 bands.
It’s been a little while since I’ve flown halfway across the continent for a one-off, non-festival gig, but when I saw the lineup for this one, I knew I had to be there.
Electric Wizard was the biggest draw of Day Two–and perhaps the entire festival, with the possible exception of Sleep. But I was looking forward to seeing SoCal stoner legends Acid King just as much, if not more…
The concept of the covers album is a risky one. Nothing wrong with slapping one on as a B-side or extra track. But to propose a whole album of covers often begs the question, “What? Have they run out of their own material already?” When you decide to make the cover album an ongoing series, you run the risk of self-parody; Six Feet Under are getting dangerously close to that point with Graveyard Classics III.
