Pounding Metal: Cauldron Seeks Burning Fortune

Iron Man – The Passage

After reissuing their debut album Black Night, Shadow Kingdom now brings us a new pressing of The Passage, the stellar sophomore album from Maryland doomsters Iron Man. Album number two was a huge step forward for the trad doom outfit, as it saw the welcoming of new singer Dan Michalak into the fold, along with future Spirit Caravan/Pentagram drummer Gary Isom.

Motörhead – Another Perfect Day

Literally, a “dark horse” is an unexpected or unknown victor, a competitor that defies the odds, mocks the prognosticators, and pulls off a win that nobody saw coming. While its short game may have fizzled and its medium game may have been relegated to disowned curiosity, Another Perfect Day’s long game has proven durable and significant to an extent that nobody could have anticipated.

Murder Construct: The Hellbound Audio Interview

Murder Construct is the name of a new Los Angeles based grind outfit featuring members of Cattle Decapitation, Exhumed, Fatalist, Intronaut and others. Originally conceived nearly ten years ago by guitarist Leon del Muerte, the band recently released their first seven song EP through Relapse Records. Motörhead – Stone Deaf Forever!

Minor quibbles aside, this is a great collection that features enough rarities and previously unreleased material (including a great four song Peel session from 1980 and BBC sessions from ’80 and ’86) that on musical merits alone this would be worth purchasing.

Macabre – Grim Scary Tales

Anyways, if you’re one of those weirdos like me who worship Macabre, you’ll want this one. Although the production is a lot better and the sound slightly more modern, there are enough shades of Sinister Slaughter on Grim Scary Tales that oughtta make solid additions to their live set next time they’re in our vicinity.
