Target Earth is one of those albums that many reviewers will spend more time talking about what is wrong with it than what is right. Since it is the first album to feature Mongrain and it is essentially the start of a new era, you can expect it to be compared over and over to the band’s legacy. This is unnecessary in my opinion, for as Snake sings in “Warchaic”, the band is out “to find a brand new world”, and it is something they manage to do just fine.

When Napalm Death made their much-anticipated trek across Canada last fall, I set my sights on sitting down with vocalist Barney Greenway, as he’s someone I’ve long admired as an elder statesman among forward-thinking, politically-minded metalheads. In late October Sean Palmerston had the chance to speak to Canadian vocalist Stu Block about his recent decision to join Iced Earth. Stu and Sean had a brief chat about how he came to join the legendary American power metal band band, about writing and recording the new Dystopia album, future touring plans for the band and that cool new mid-range voice that has come alive on this new album.
