This album could have possibly lived up to the hype if not for the abysmal drumming and overall poor timekeeping...modern Death Metal, whether performed by a new up-and-coming band or a retro re-united band such as Asphyx must conform to the minimal standards of the day, and the modern standard is that even the shittiest, most generic DM bands (ie: Job For A Cowboy) are fantastic musicians at the BARE MINIMUM.

Good songwriting, hooks, memorable parts are built secondarily upon this basic foundation, and oft looked upon as a bonus in this extremely redundant and rarely adventurous genre.

Van Drunen understood this when he formed Hail Of Bullets, but Asphyx is a castle built upon a foundation of sand.
