Spectacular reviews guys, and I even got a chuckle out of Adam's Steve Harris editing comment!

Phenomenal documentary, and in contrast to M:AHJ and Global Metal, I thought it was incredibly professional how Sam stuck behind the scenes as to not even attempt to eclipse the sheer awesomeness of the boys. His evolution from "Sociologist Metal Enthusiast" to full blown director is without a doubt, secured by Flight 666.

My personal favourite sections of the doc were those on the roadies and the extended Maiden family (which really showed the devotion and bond of both band and crew), and much like Adrien, the one lingering shot of the Costa Rican fan standing motionless with Nicko's drum stick in hand, streaming tears. It really emphasized the impact that Maiden has had on the world, especially the release of the daily torment it has given to those of an oppressed society.

The live portion of the film was beyond any other Maiden DVD I've ever seen. The editing was superb and gave a full view of the show instead of the Harris "Cut, cut, cut, hold, cut cut" formula. The set list was flawless, and coupled with the fact that the boys were at the top of their game, makes this beyond memorable. You've got the classics : Janick fights Eddie, the front line string attack, and Nicko being a clown whenever he gets the chance.

Then we get to Bruce. The man is in his 50's, flying the entire band, crew and gear around the world, drinking beers after the shows, and STILL managing to outperform everyone else. His vocals in "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" are far above par to what he set on the album, and his energy is fucking outstanding.

This Film has definitely earned it's place in the Maiden legacy. My congratulations go out to all the roadies, management, documentary crew, and last but definitely far from the least: IRON MAIDEN for their enthusiasm, effort, and continuing contribution to Heavy Metal, and I sincerely hope everyone involved with the project win multiple awards for their achievements. It's events like this that make me proud to have an 8 inch Eddie permanently inked on my calf.
